Fit for a Duchess

Two B-town leading ladies were recently spotted out and about dressed in brands known to also be favored by the Duchess of Cambridge. I always jump at a chance for a little crossover action between my two favorites: the Royals and Bollywood. Kareena (with magnificent balayage highlights going on) breezed into the stands of the derby event at the Royal Western India Turf Club in a fabulously printed Temperley London dress. Now I seriously doubt we will ever spot the Duchess in such a print, she has been a fan of Temperley for years.
Next up, Katrina chose another vibrant yellow piece for "Fitoor" promotions in Jaipur. Roland Mouret has been a favorite among Bollywood ladies and the Duchess in recent years. We have spotted the Duchess in yellow hues in the past, and given that she chose a bold, red gown for the reception for the Chinese PM, there is a small chance we could see choose something of this sort for herself at some point in the future.
Anyone else as excited as I am…

Suddenly Sonam

I've concluded that Rhea Kapoor must have a ball styling her sister; Sonam seems up for just about anything! Take her four recent appearances, for instance. She split evenly between long tops and exaggerated salwaar-style pants. I loved the two Anamika Khanna ensembles - the silvery grey tunic over salwars being my favorite (that knockout oxidized necklace!). The best parts of the red Anamika outfit was were the ankle detail and those killer sandals. Playing around with shape and proportion, the Bungalow 8 outfit was so Sonam - business on top, style adventuress on bottom. The Dhruv Kapoor plaid shirt-dress lost me a bit though. It's a tad too shapeless for me, and then tucking in skinny jeans into boots just shortens her legs unnecessarily. But you know what? Three out of four isn't bad at all!

YBTJ: Mellow Yellow Edition

Katrina and Sonam have been tearing it up on the promotional warpath. Most recently, both were spotted in sunny, yellow ensembles. Props to Sonam for being ever-adventurous and unpredictable in her fashion choices. But I just can't figure this one out - what is it? A sweater? A dress? A sweater dress? It's too manic for mere mortals, and thus, perhaps perfect for Ms. Sonam.
In terms of wearability, my vote is with Kat. She takes on an intimidating color, wears it top to bottom, and manages not to resemble a banana. Also, and this is probably because it's Primary Season here in the States, but the color of the suit and the wide cut leg, prevent the 31 Phillip Lim ensemble from veering into power pantsuit territory. Even Hillary is edging away from her beloved pantsuits! Photos:  @prabalgurung, @elleindia

SAG Awards Prettiness

I'm so excited that PC is tearing it up Stateside - gives me a reason beyond Mindy, Padma, and Rachel Roy, to cover American awards shows. Let's be honest, Filmfare, the "Hooray, it's Wednesday", IIFA, NDTV, and the ilk can get a tad boring at times ;) I kid, I kid.
Priyanka's punchy, mermaid-style gown with its tulle detail seemed to complement its wearer's personality quite well.
Also by Monique Lhuillier, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss was equally eye-catching. She's so effortless, and those Loubies are covet-worthy!
