Tsk Tsk

The always lovely Konkana attended Sunidhi Chauhan's wedding alongside hubby dearest Ranvir. That's the clue you need to guess that these two are actually attending a wedding function together. Based on appearances, you'd think she was a wedding guest while he was a sloppy valet. Scratch that. The valets at all 5-star hotels are required to dress better than Ranvir.
Why do some Bolly men insist on going über cas at formal functions? Check out Jeetendra at the Genelia-Ritesh shaadi. Is it some sort of competition amongst the men? Who can dress sloppiest? Ladies, kick your men in the rear and make them dress appropriately! Photo: getty

Mushtaq Sheikh's Birthday Party

Ekta K hosted a soiree for her pal, and of course we had a fair share of good, bad, and fugly.

Good
Puja's look was simple but cute.
Priyanka brought her A-game. Vivek sported some serious
schoolboy hair.

Bad
Ekta's attire was not as bad as it could be. Until
I can find a full length shot, you'll have to take my word for it:
she is sporting these platform monstrosities again.
Same pose, check. Soha's same ol' hair, check.
Kunal and his heavage, check check. Bleh.
Um, Anita, your crinkly LBD could do without those
funky straps but could use one pass from an iron. Those
camel color sandals are way to cas for this look.

Fugly
There's that blouse again. But these ill-fitting, sparkly tuxedo pants are actually worse
than the see-through number she paired with the blouse last time.
Nothing about this is working, Tisca. Not the too-big
gold wedges, and certainly not that fugly dress.
Sonu, we understand that the too-tight shirt is standard Bolly
attire, but those chappals? What is the deal with those chappals?
Sheikh Jagdish Sparrow returns. Gah.
Kunal wasn't the only Bolly man sporting heavage.
Looks like Jeetendra is the official heavage role model
for Kunal and Neil. Yikes!

Seen and Heard @ Puma Event

B-list Bolly babe (try saying that 5 times fast) Chitragandha was seen working up a sweat at a recent promotional event for Puma.
T-shirts are all well and good, but BOO! Puma. You're taking
advantage of these cute kids for your promo, the least you
could do is provide them with sneakers.
Seriously, Puma. Spring for a couple of pairs of sneakers for the kiddos.
Yeesh. I gotta say, these kiddos outshine Chitra a bit don't they?

Poor Sameera. Looks like she got duped by a clever salesgirl.

Mad About Mads

La Dixit treated fans to 2 sari-clad appearances in a matter of days. First, as the recipient of an award at the Deenanath Mangeshkar Puraskar Awards, and then at an album launch. Her first sari was blingy, but not OTT. The royal blue three-quarter sleeve blouse anchored the look. Notice La Dixit's trendy nail art!
On the other hand, while her mango-colored sari had fun polka dots peeking out from under the pallu, the over-all look was meh. What is that growing on her shoulder?

Best of the Best @ Bappa Lahiri Reception

Hot damn, Kiran Rao. This is the most amazing I've ever
seen you look! Everything is flawless: the sari, the drape,
the jewelry.
Shraddha works the mustard and peachy-pink combo.
For a tutorial on how not to wear mustard, please
refer to the Lahiri family shot below.
Understated Kajol at her pastel and pale gold best.
The loose, side braid and neutral makeup complement
her look without overpowering. Kudos!
Cousin Rani was not to be outdone by Kajol.
Jaya P. stepped it up, and Poonam is quite elegant.
OK, so you wouldn't know that these two are at a wedding reception
based on those frowning mugs, but facial expression aside, Padmini's sari
is stunning I'm not a fan of the strapless anarkali that Tejaswini's sporting,
but the colors are lovely.
These next couple of snaps don't actually belong in any BOB recap, however for the ease of writing it up, here they are.
I guess her rather garish attire is indicative of Taneesha's officially becoming
a Lahiri. Gah. Brides are supposed to be the center of attention, but in a
good way. Her rust sari next to the eyesores that are the kurtas worn
by hubs and FIL, and mere steps away from that haldi bath that is her MIL,
is all very Lahiri isn't it? Plus, there's so much yellow gold bling going on.
It's not that AB Sr. looks sloppy, but I do bemoan
the return of the velvet blazer.

Gov. Nikki Haley Makes Desippearance in "Vogue"

The SC Governor can apparently now add "model" to her list of accolades. She is slated to be featured in the May issue of Vogue. I'm not going to talk politics here, so let's just stick to pure superficial fluff.  The lady looks fantastic. From a sartorial perspective, she may be the only Republican, desi response to the fashionista that is Huma Abedin (a Dem through and through). Here's a preview of Haley's Vogue spread. I'm not really sure what's going on with her hair in that second shot.

Aamir ♥ India

I gotta say, I am tickled that "Rang De Basanti" Khan has jumped on the rich hued denim bandwagon. It takes a heavy dose of self-confidence for a guy to adopt this trend. At the Satyamev Jayate press meet, all that RDB Khan needed was a shot of saffron to complete his Tiranga look. This fella's one patriotic dude!

Kajol Kardashian?

Speaking of stepping out of comfort zones, Lolo's fellow '90s star, Kajol took a bold step recently at a Marc Cain store event. The item in question was a skin-tight, royal blue Shantanu and Nikhil number. Now I do applaud Kajol for choosing a) a bright hue, and b) an edgy (for Kajol) silhouette. However, I think this one does her no favors in the tummy region. It's just a smidge too tight in that area. I like how the top portion has a flowy vibe. But cinched in the way it is at the waist, just makes an unflattering emphasis on that area. I very much wish this one had just cut straight down (think a mini-tunic) as opposed to getting sucked in from the waist down. The dress itself is very much something I'd expect to see on a Kardashian, not on Kajol.

Ho Hum

Lolo was spotted recently at Radio City earnestly plugging her comeback vehicle. Although she looked as polished as ever, I wish she'd take a few steps away from what has become a uniform of sorts: neutrals paired with dark-almost-black denim. Some jewel tones every once and again would look wonderful on her. Also, lopping off about six inches of hair would probably be beneficial as well.
If I owned one of these puppies, I'd let it take
front and center in any pic, any day.

Hit and Miss

Ravs has been a busy bee! Logging guests including Sania, Sushmita, and John A in the past week. Ravs was spot on in her icy blue suit. I love the pale yellow accents, the collar, and the buttons. Plus, she paired them with kohlapuri wedges and not her blasted flip flops. Huzzah! Sush, on the other hand, was a disappointment. No question, the woman is a glamazon. But this glittering mess of a dress makes no sense to me: a demure, just above the knee hemline and a mega-plunging neckline. It's schizophrenic. Are you a lady who lunches or a club girl? Decide. On the positive side, her hair and makeup are flawless as per ush, she kills it with those heels, and she brought her lovely daughters along (awwww!).

Wedding Wrap-up

Best in "I Don't Want to Upstage the Bride"
Sophie, in an impeccably draped MM, is 2-2
in fabulosity.
Shraddha wins with a classic Ritu Kumar because
she's bringing back the sharara. Yeah!

Best in Red
As lovely as Jaya Prada is, her sari reminds
me of chintzy hotel drapes. No thank you.
Love love love the red and purple combo. I personally
would have subbed out Rupali's gold jewelry for white gold or silver,
but the sari carries the win.
Best in Green
Anushree, darling. Stop ruining a perfectly lovely
sari by toting around a perfectly inappropriate bag.
