Move Over, Ladies...

The bevy of Bolly-beauties, Aishwarya, Sonam, Padma and Freida, aren't the only desi faces appearing in maintstream, western fashion glossies! Sonny Caberwal, a former attorney, and present day entrepreneur/high-end tea shop proprietor/model, appeared last year in the Kenneth Cole "We All Walk In Different Shoes" campaign.Via Sepia Mutiny.
Sonny now appears in all his turbaned glory in the pages of German GQ in quite an extensive fashion spread. First Ken Cole, and now GQ. It's fantastic to see the pagadi in this chic, high-fashion light! I, for one, am wholeheartedly glad to see western media (and that too, the ever-fickle fashion media), reaching out to Sikh traditions. Some may call it exploitation of customs or superficial pandering. But I call it progress, baby! Nothing makes me giddier than a nerd at chess camp than when I flip open [insert fashion mag here] and find a beautiful desi face staring back at me. Check out the rest of the smokin' hot photographs from the spread here.Via Sepia Mutiny.

So who is this Himalayan Queen? At 25-years-old, she is the youngest Queen Consort in the world. Like Kate, she was a commoner (though with an aristocratic lineage) and the daughter of a pilot. She is fashionable, athletic, and holds a university arts background. Additionally, she herself is a brand new mum, having recently given birth to a baby boy.
As with Wills and Kate, the King and Queen of Bhutan have always shown great respect for their country's cult…
