Best Dressed Bollywood

Happy 2009 and Welcome! As this is my first post ever, and my first post of the New Year, what better way to kick things off than to raise a glass (a Bellini preferably), to the most fashionable Bollywood scene-stealers of '09.

Bollywood celebrities are often known for their - let's face it - unfortunately flashy sartorial taste both on and off the red carpet. While fashion flubs were plentiful in 2008, refined taste could be found if one looked carefully. The following ladies have collectively upped the ante in Bollywood style.

# 10 - Ms. Piggy Chops a.k.a. Priyanka Chopra.

While she may not be the most adventurous in terms of style, one must applaud the fact that Ms. Chopra knows what works and works it well! We know she has a penchant for satin tiered dresses and her go-to Jimmy Choos. If only she would step outside her comfort zone on occasion.

# 9 - Sonali Bendre.

Although she has been MIA from films of late
, Ms. Bendre continues to make her stylish presence felt at premieres and television shows such as Indian Idol. Ms. Bendre took a risk with her edgy hair cut which she balances with her always polished look.

# 8 - Lara Dutta.

A former Miss Universe, Ms. Dutta is obviously graced with good looks. However, as we know, good looks do not always guarantee good taste. Fortunately, Ms. Dutta has plenty of both! She looks stunning in bold colors.

# 7 - Katrina Kaif

A model-turned-actress-turned-Bollywood-hit-machine, Ms. Kaif carries off both western and Indian attire admirably. In addition to the impeccable draping of her saris, she consistently tones down the makeup and accessories when her sari is heavily embroidered.

# 6 - Frieda -Slumdog Millionaire-Pinto.

Ms. Pinto has been rocking a whirlwind of awards shows and Slumdog premieres! The up-and-coming actress is at total ease on the red carpet with her bold use of form and color in her red carpet choices. A crowd follower she is not!

Well, kids, that's all for now. Stay tuned for the five most fashionable celebs of 2008!

Meet Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan

The young, beautiful, and fashionable Queen of Bhutan, a country secluded from the world's limelight due to its remoteness, has already been generating a stir ever since her marriage to the King and her rise to the position of Queen Consort. She is a powerhouse in her own right, and much loved by the Bhutanese people. However, on a fun and superficial level, she has also drawn favorable comparisons to the Duchess of Cambridge, so much so, that she is sometimes referred to as the "Kate Middleton of the Himalayas".
So who is this Himalayan Queen? At 25-years-old, she is the youngest Queen Consort in the world. Like Kate, she was a commoner (though with an aristocratic lineage) and the daughter of a pilot. She is fashionable, athletic, and holds a university arts background. Additionally, she herself is a brand new mum, having recently given birth to a baby boy.
As with Wills and Kate, the King and Queen of Bhutan have always shown great respect for their country's cult…

Looking for a DiorShow Extase dupe

Getting 3 kiddos fed, dressed, and out the door on time on school mornings, is challenging on a good day. Between prepping breakfasts, packing lunches, double checking bags for homework, and generally refereeing Big A and S while simultaneously holding or nursing Little A, means I have precious little time to make myself presentable. As a result, mascara has taken the front and center stage of my makeup routine for rushed mornings because who has time to carefully paint on eyeliner?!
1. DiorShow Extase (discontinued) 2. IT Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara
I was crushed when Dior discontinued their Extase mascara. I adored it. The brush had the perfect shape, and unlike DiorShow or Blackout, this formulation was amenable to multiple, clump-free coats. Unfortunately, none of the current offerings in the Dior mascara lineup feature a similar brush to Extase. IT Cosmetics offered a comparable brush and sounded like it might be a good dupe. On the positive side, the m…

Two Faced Mascara Melt-Off

**UPDATED** We all love mascara that doesn't budge, but who enjoys nightly battles with mascara removal? Not I. Which is why I was excited to give this product a whirl. It promises quick, easy, and effective mascara removal. I simply applied a coat to my lashes using the kind of wand you would expect for lower lash mascaras. I let the product remain on my lashes as I washed my face (approx. two minutes). I used a cotton pad soaked in my favorite eye-makeup remover to gently sweep off the mascara.
The Mascara Melt-Off definitely speeds up the mascara removal process, with significantly less tugging and rubbing of lashes. I felt that the results were a more thorough mascara removal than makeup remover alone.

That said, the directions stated to use a cotton pad to wipe off the mascara; but I found that you most definitely need to soak the pad in your usual remover. Also, I should note that I tested it on non-waterproof mascara. I have no idea how effective it would be in the case of …
